Causes

  • Contaminants left on the substrate, underneath the paint system (such as silicone, oil, wax, water, corrosion, etc.)
  • Use of an unsuitable filler
  • Use of incorrect cleaner
  • Insufficient sanding of the substrate
  • Undercoats too thin
  • Drying time too short

Prevention

  • Take greatest care to thoroughly clean all surfaces to be painted
  • Make sure you use only fillers that are suitable for the substrates being painted
  • Apply the individual coats correctly, and flash off between coats as specified
  • Correctly sand the surfaces to be painted
  • Use recommended baslac cleaners

How to repair

  • Strip the paintwork from an area larger than that affected, and refinish the stripped areas all over again
