Paint Defects
Causes
- Color of undercoat substrate not matched to the topcoat colour
- Basecoat or topcoat over-thinned
- Paint not applied uniform
- Film build of topcoat too low
Prevention
- A uniform adapted substrate is required, especially when you apply translucent colors (e.g. 3-stage pearl effect finishes)
- Mix paint according to technical data sheets
- Use the recommended ground coats for poor-covering colours
- Ensure sufficient film thickness and respect appropriate flash-off intervals between coats
How to repair
- After drying, sand lightly and repaint
