Paint Defects
Causes
- Contaminants left on the substrate, underneath the paint system (such as silicone, oil, wax, water, corrosion, etc.)
- Use of an unsuitable filler
- Use of incorrect cleaner
- Insufficient sanding of the substrate
- Undercoats too thin
- Drying time too short
Prevention
- Take greatest care to thoroughly clean all surfaces to be painted
- Make sure you use only fillers that are suitable for the substrates being painted
- Apply the individual coats correctly, and flash off between coats as specified
- Correctly sand the surfaces to be painted
- Use recommended baslac cleaners
How to repair
- Strip the paintwork from an area larger than that affected, and refinish the stripped areas all over again
