Paint Defects
Causes
- Poor cleaning of the plastic substrate
- Use of an unsuitable or too little cleaning or degreasing agent
- Plastic part not heated before paint application
- No adhesion promoter used
- Plastic not paintable
Prevention
- Thoroughly clean the parts using a mild detergent
- Clean the substrate before and after every manipulation
- Use correct plastic cleaner
- Plastic parts should be heated to 60°C to force out any residual contaminants (Make sure that the panel will not lose its shape due to the heat)
- Apply plastic primer according to technical data sheet
- Control if plastic is paintable
How to repair
- Completely remove the peeling paintwork and refinish the affected areas
